David did not merely fight Goliath. The victory in the Valley of Elah was only the beginning of a lifelong war against the giants of Gath—warriors born from a bloodline of terror that continued to rise against Israel long after the famous stone left David’s sling. Scripture records that there were five giant champions connected to Gath, and though David carried five stones to meet Goliath, he used only one that day. The remaining battles would not belong to a shepherd boy standing in youthful confidence, but to an aging king growing weary beneath the weight of leadership, failure, betrayal, and war.

David’s story speaks with startling honesty. If we don’t deal with the giants threatening us today, we will face them in battle later on in life. This series will map out how to identify the giants in our lives and provide a concise blueprint for overcoming them and walking in victory as we realize that the same God who empowered a shepherd with a sling also sustained a weary king, surrounded by faithful warriors, until every giant finally fell.
